Lazy week but got plans!

I had no idea the week would fly by like it did! Last Monday I worked, and the rest of the week I was off..... work is slowing down, too bad, could use some extra money for the Christmasdays! But, can't do anything about it!

Monday after work there was a message on the answering machine that my requested book was in, so I got in the car, and went to the library. Tuesday was my day off, so I decided I'd spend it reading........... in this book........

No of course I don't no if you are as fond of reading as I am, or if you like books by Tess Gerritsen, but.... if you do.... be sure to get this one as soon as it comes out! It's her latest, and oh my gosh....is it good! A real pageturner..... so Tuesday was a good day! Wednesday even better, cause I decided I had to finish it, and read till about 4.30 pm..... and was I ever so sad there were no more pages, this is a very, very good book!
***

As the rest of the week was "me" time, I decided to make some more Christmas cards, they are all the same, except for the papers of course, but very easy and quickly to make!
All the used papers are old Christmas lines by Basic Grey, some Figgy Pudding, Dasher and more. Still like them and it's so nice to use the scraps for cards!
***
Yesterday I had to be in Brantford, and decided to stop by the LSS there! I know, I just ordered lots of goodies, but a girl can never have enough right?

Got some more Distress Ink and 2 bottles of Crackle Paint, love it..... some Sassafrass papers and cardstock stickers (got plans for that!) and a sheer tab album by Maya Road.

Also 3 papers of the latest Christmas line by Basic Grey, Wassail.... and now I regret I didn't get them all, cause they are really gorgeous. Matching cardstock, makes it easier to use it!

***
And this is what's on my desk now.... between the rest of the mess:-)

The plan is to make a layout with it, again kind of Vintage.... don't know why but I love that style. Hopefully I get something done this afternoon, if not, weekend is just a night away, and as I heard, work is still slow, so probably some days of next week too! I'm making no promisses, but I hope to show the finished layout soon!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

News * Car trouble * Sneak * Cards

Again it's been a while since my last post, but... I've got a good reason for that!!! Since last Monday, I've got a job!!!!!!!!! Through some friends who helped me, I'm working at a printing and publishing company, and it's a nice start back in to the working world! Hard..... 8 hours a day, and as I haven't had a job in 2,5 years, that's pretty tough. This week I made 22,5 hours... standing on my 2 feet and boy, does that make you tired. But, you have to get used to everything again, it's nice to be out of the house and to meet new people, do something and earn my own money! The rest of the week I'm off, and even the whole next week..... all of a sudden there is not much work..... nice to get back into work..... a week off and no pay:-) Hopefully this won't last long, cause then I have to get used to it again ha, ha!

**

This morning I had planned to go to Brantford, needed some cardstock and... a new Crop-a-Dile because my dearest husband thought it was possible to use on a broken suitecase handle..... Well, I can tell you.... it is deffinately not possible! It broke.... and I could throw it out!

Ok.... we, Marloes and I, were almost out of Simcoe and all of a sudden the temperature meter of the car flew up into the red mark....... Man.... I was scared...... I know how to drive a car, but the technical part of it is abracadabra to me! Anyway, I parked the card, turned the engine of.... and sat..... thinking what to do... Decided to go back home, cause I don't like to have an overheated engine while I'm on the road, and....... my cellphone is at home!!!! As soon as I started the car.... back into the red the meter went....... shoot..... now I really started panicing and so was Marloes! On the way home is the garage, so I drove there and told my problem! "Yep" the guy said..... "look at the street...... the fluid is poring out of your car....this must be the radiator hose!" Sure...... stuff like that always happenes to me and I can tell you, it's not funny! I guess he felt sorry for me, took the car into the shop, got a mechanic and..... in half an hour it was fixed! Geez, I could kiss the guy!! My car worked again, no overheated engine anymore, pfew what a relief!! We could continue our roadtrip LOL Got my cardstock and a new Crop a dile, also I finally got my long wanted Heidi Swapp distresser, and...... I found the cutest stampset by Inkadinkado with all these cute Holiday whishes for only $ 11,--

Isn't it cute? I'm sure going to use this on my Christmas cards!

**

Here's a sneak of my Travel Journal! I started this before I got my job, had big plans but..... no time LOL.

Well, this up coming week I will have plenty, so hopefully I can show more soon!

And the last thing for today, 3 more cards I made last week.... always the same Christmas stamp, I know, it's the only one I've got:-)) But... if you use different pp on every card, it's just one of a kind don't you think?

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Shopping * Paper'08 * More shopping:-)

I'm still here!! It has been a while since I posted I think, a well, that has to do with the fact that it's Summer holidays!!! And we had a busy week, I really don't know where this week went, it really flew by! Anywho....... I did some shopping, last Saturday we went to Hamilton and I had to visit the scrapstore, as you can imagine.
Look at these cool stamps!!! I love them, and those flowers are just adorable don't you think?

Some My Minds Eye papers, and of course some Basic Grey, no plans for it yet, but they called out for me, so...... I had to have them! No, just kidding, I wanna make some cards and there is a layout in my mind, it just won't come out yet. Hopefully next week!

***

A new operation at Paper'08, already done on Wednesday, just not posted yet, so here we go!

AND FOR THIS WEEKS CHALLENGE : What has been GOOD for you so far in 2008? What are you doing? What is making you happy? What is GOOD?

If you click on the picture, you can read what's been good for me this year!!

***

I know I'm bad, but..... yesterday I did some shopping again:-) We had to go to Brantford, Marloes had bought a short last Saturday but it didn't fit good, so we had to change it. Very good excuse to stop at the scrapstore there, as it was on the way to the mall!

Here's what I bought, ink, tickets, flowers by Bazzill, very cute clearstamps for just $ 1,-- each and across the street is another store, which sell scrapbook stuff also, so so bad!!! and they had the travel stamps! Very good reason to buy them with our trip to Holland coming up in only 3,5 weeks don't you think?

And I just could not resist these lovely Daisy D's papers... I have to get some different papers than the Basic Grey I always buy and these called out for me!

This all has to wait to get used, cause later today we're leaving for camp! My BIL and SIL have there holidays and invited us over for the weekend, so I got some packing to do, especially lots of bug spray! Some very nasty bug bit me last Tuesday and now I've got a pretty bad infection, even went to the Walk-in Clinic and got antibiotics...... poor me:-( It probably was either a black flie or sand flees, they seem to have a very bad poison to which I am allergic. My feet are more then twice the size the are supposed to be, and my leg..... well forget about that one, it looks real bad! So, we are gone for the weekend and I hope to see you all back next week!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

GotMojo and more mail!

The girls at GotMojo had a new challenge going on. You had to use the Martha Stewart signature frase "It's a good thing" and had to use a stamp.... somewhere.... no matter what kind of stamp!

Ok, I can do that, the only problem is.... which stamp... got so many and like 'em all.... so, I used 4... hope that's ok too ha, ha!!

Photobucket

I know it's not the most original idea to use a picture of my DH for this layout, but.... I've got a good reason! This challenge came up June 5th, and... that was our Anniversary....... 21 years!!! Well... isn't that a good reason to call my dearest hubby and the fact that we are married for 21 years "a good thing"?? I thought so, ha, ha!

I traced the sticker letters with black Sakura and of course, when you don't need it, it happens. The pen slipped... black all over the white letter......sob sob.. But well, couldn't do much about it, and when I look at the picture now, it's hardly noticable! Lucky me!

***

I still receive cards in the mail by very sweet ladies! This one I got from Birgit, who is a very talented scrapper!! Look at that gorgeous handmade card and all the goodies she also put in the envelop, isn't that sweet? Thanks so much dear!!

And this card I got from Danielle, a real Dutch scene, love it, and a tipical Dutch ribbon stapled on the card, thanks so much girl!!

As for me, I'm actually waiting for a phonecall from my doctor with the results of the X-ray's I had yesterday.... The only thing I can tell you is that I'm slowly getting a little better, but as patience has never been any of my good qualities... every day is a day too long! More about the results later!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

COL and more cards

At the Dutch Freestyle group we have COL almost every other week. Every crop there is at least one inspirational layout, that you can lift of give it your own twist! This was the one I chose.

I have absolutely no idea who made this one, but I love it!

A detailed photo, love that little Autumn Leaves birdie!

Photobucket

And this is what I made of it, didn't have the Note Worthy anymore, so I made my own out of Basic Grey Periphery. The stamps (Laugh out Loud, flower and Smile) are by Kelly Panacci and I absolutely love these! Prima flowers, buttons, ric-rac and lace and my Gelly pen are used too.
The cute little boy is my nephew, photo is taken on my moms birthday in 2005 and I've never used it for myself, but only in scrapbooks for my SIL and my mom..... too bad cause I think it's a great photo!
***
I still receive "get well soon" cards from people I don't even know, and I realized that some of them had not been shown here yet!

Thanks to each and everyone of you for all your beautiful cards! I really enjoy opening the mail these days! How am I doing..... well, could be better, at least in my opinion, but I think I want it to heal faster than is possible. If only sitting was more comfortable... my "behind" still hurts a lot, never knew there were so many muscles and tissue there:-)

June 9th I have to see the doctor again and probably need another X-ray and hopefully she can tell me that it's healed by then. The bad news is that the pain can hold on for about half a year and I really do not look forward to that!I'll keep you updated as soon as there is an update!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Paper Adventure '08 caught up!, goodies and a card!

Finally, this week I felt up to catching up on the Paper'08 operations! I missed 4, that's a lot, cause most of the times mine is done on the day Elise puts it on her blog!

#17 Something New (click on the image to read the journaling)

#18 5 Senses

# 19 Details

# 20 Three Words (you had to tell something about yourself in 3 words!)

So, I'm all done now, and ready for the next operation!

As you can see on Operation #17 I used a very cute stamp of a bike and a little fence, you see them here, my friend Linda sent them to me and they arrived just in time, cause I was desperately waiting to use them! She also sent some other goodies with it, and one of the shaker sticker is used on operation #20!!

Then this gorgeous button card and one of these Gingerbread men arrived Monday, all the way from Poland to Canada, and I got them from Michelle, a good friend from a challenge last year by Emily Falconbridge! I've emailed you already Michelle, but thanks so very much for those wonderful pieces of art!

Last but not least I want to thank you all for visiting my blog, and hardly getting any visits from me! I'm a bad blogger these days, but typing all this took me almost half an hour cause I have to stand up and walk around all the time..... I am doing better, but still not there. Tuesday I went to see the doctor and she told me that even six months after the fall, I can have trouble with it and it might still hurt if I sit for a long time! Well, that's absolutely something to look forward to don't you think? Especially when we leave for Holland, which is an 8 hour flight...... Ah well, I have to take it day by day, and take it easy, but I'm so very glad I'm able to scrap a bit. Eventhough it can take me days to finish a page, it gives me something to do besides zapping on the TV!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the day!

More cards, flowers and I MADE A LAYOUT!

Still I receive cards, the most beautiful pieces of art you can think of, I love it, and want to thank Rieni and Monique for their cards I received last Friday!!
(by clicking you can see the image better if you want to!)

I also had a very big surprise Friday, a flowershop delivered this gorgeous bouquet of Sunflowers for me!! And I was completely surprised when I read the card that was with it..... I got these flowers from Michelle, to cheer me up a bit! Girl, you're the sweetest and yes, they did cheer me up, a lot!!!! Thanks so so very much!

Finally I tried to do some scrappin' and I managed!

I just had to do this layout of my youngest daughter Anouk, who was talking to me about getting adjusted here in Canada, and how normal speaking English at school was becoming, almost as normal as speaking Dutch! I know she doesn't like this photo of her at all, but I love it, that's just the way she can look, when she's reading! Has nothing to do with the layout, but.. I just love the photo!

Photobucket

Used paper is Three bugs in a rug, Prima Flowers, lace, Zig pen, Maya Road journaling sheers and We R Memory Keepers chipboard letters.

Here's a close up of the journaling, hope you can read it, it says a lot about how my girl is adjusting here and I think she's doing great!

More Mail!

More mail from very nice people who don't even know me!!! . (click on the image for a better view)

This lovely card is from my dear friend Jenny, and eventhough it's not handmade, it means a lot to me girl, love the lovely Dutch couple!! (click on the image for a better view)

These cards came May 1st, but I'm just not albe to post every day, so I'm putting some days together in one post! Hope you understand!
***
And today, May 7th, there was more mail, I love thema all, thanks to Monique M. for the nice die-cuts you've send with the card and Paula P. for the wonderful flowers and buttons, I'm a huge fan of both of them!!!

How am I doing... well, I'm getting there, sometimes I'm able to sit without that silly donut ring, I've even been out this past weekend in the car, and yesterday I've tried driving myself which goes fine, but..... only for about 5-10 minutes. As it's only been a little more then 2 weeks, I think I have to be much more patient then I am...... and that's hard! But, all these lovely cards cheer me up, and again a big thank you to you all!!
I also would love to scrap a bit, maybe I'll give it a try tomorrow, would be so nice to get creative again!

Update and surprise!

First I want to start with thanking everybody for their sweet comments and get well soon wishes on my last post, that really means a lot to me!!

Then, how am I doing now..... well, fortunately there are painkillers which do their job, but I'm getting so bored here, can't sit very long cause that hurts a lot, standing, walking and laying down are the best thing to do. Wish I could scrap a bit, but I found out that trying to scrap standing is nothing for me. So I'm afraid that has to wait. Am I glad there's a lot on tv during the day, you have to do something to pass the time right?

Yesterday the mailman came with a big surprise, get well cards from people I don't even know?! And guess what, my sweet sweet sis Jeanet did a post on her blog and on several scrapbook forums about me, and asked people to send me a card, and they are doing it! I appreciate this so very very much, and will try to post all the cards here, but I can't do it every day.

These cards are from yesterday, if you click on the picture you can see it better and also the name of the person who sent the card.

These are from today, on the left is a card making kit, a very big surprise! Love love love it!

And the card on the left is from my sweet sis Jeanet! Isn't it adorable??

To every who sent me one of these cards a big thank you, you are all so sweet!!

I think I'm gonna be quiet for a while.......

Just a short post to let you all know that I'm not going to spend much time at the computer the next couple of days. This morning I fell of the stairs and broke my tailbone....... It hurts like hell, got good pain killers but sitting is a real pain in the........ ***
So don't worry, I'm just taking it easy.... it takes about 6-8 weeks to heal...... darn..... I hate taking things easy, and my job...... well, I can forget about that one for now!
Take care and have a great day!

My new Scraproom!

In my last post I told you about me being busy painting and moving all my scrapbookstuff to my new room. Well.. it's done, finished, and it looks awesome, at least, I think so. Nothing fancy, but just my plain old stuff, nothing matching, but I don't care, I got a nice big room in which I feel pretty good!

This was the old room, Anouk's bedroom, pretty messy, cause she really doesn't like cleaning!
Same room, totally different colors...... yep, pink, I'm scrappin' in CandyLand now!! But, I love it!

And here it's competely finished! Every photo is taken from the same spot in the room, every shelve is hanging, my desk is in front of the window, love it!

Not everything is on photo, I got a closet in this room which holds all my albums, and my cabinets on wheels, but they are so old and ugly, I don't wanna see them!

And then a single photo of a very important spot in my room....... the computerdesk! Yep, just had coffee! Well, that's my new room and I like it very much!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the day!

Prize, good news, Paper Adventure #10, and work in progress

This is gonna be a long post, so you are warned!!

Remember I won a prize at Category Stories? Well, it took some time but yesterday I got it in the mail and it is really awesome! Look at all the goodies I got!

Great chipboard diecuts, alpha stickers, rubons, stamp by Heidi Swapp, really gorgeous ribbons!
IOD papers which are double sided......
...... and this is the other side!

And Making Memories papers, I love them, could never find those awesome shapes here, and now I have some!!

****

Good News!!! Yesterday I finally got my status as Permanent Resident of Canada! No visitor anymore, no more calling and asking how long it's gonna take, no, it's done, final, I can stay!! Very very important for me, so very very happy!!!

****

We all have talent. We do. Maybe not the sort of talent that can draw a crowd on the street, but something we are good at. Something we are proud of.
This week, write about your talent. Yours. Not your dog's, or your friend's or your kid's. Allow yourself to be impressed with what you can do.

A new prompt at Paper'08, loved it!!

As always a detailed picture, the first time I used Grungeboard, what great stuff to work with! I did this one with crackle medium and really like the way it turned out!

Photobucket

This is my page for this week, hope you can read the journaling, cause for some reason the picture won't enlarge! (edited!! I've changed the picture of the complete page, now it's readable!)

****

And here a sneak of my work in progress. I really can't show the pages, cause it's a gift and I'm afraid the person who's receiving it, reads my blog too!

Thanks for visiting again, and for your comments, have a great day, and hopefully my MoJo comes back soon..... cause my blogging is terrible at the moment!!
