It's sketch time again at wijDUS!!

This is the sketch we've used, created by Yolanda!

Here's what I made of it, a Vintage layout, with a photo of my great-grand parents, made when they got engaged in 1900.



And I also used the sketch for a card, so you see, you can interpret it in any way you want to!

Didn't do that much the last couple of days, and half of what I did, I can't show yet!

But this I can show, a connected3, 3 ATC's that are connected, speaks for itself I think? Used some travel stamps I had for scrapbooking, and chalks to color it and I'm satisfied!!

Wallhanger, lift LO and new sketch at wijDUS!

Showtime again!! I've been doing stuff the last couple of days and so happy with it! First of all I made a Wallhanger. At the Dutchfreestylegroup we had a COL last week, but I didn't have time, so I finished it this week!

The next layout is a lift from my friend Mireille. I know, hers is much more beautiful, but.. she used paint, I didn't, so......that's why ha, ha!

And this is what I've made of it! My oldest daughter playing golf..... And when the layout was finished I realized I had the pictures in the wrong order.... and she's no star at all cause she misses..... Ha, ha, so much for a detailed scrapper.... never thought of it! But, I still like it a lot!


More bling, I just love that Hotfix!!!!

Vintage * Winter * The bus

After doing a lot of layouts and other projects in advance for wijDUS, I had time to do something for myself! Not that what I make for wijDUS is not for myself..... but.... well, it is not something that "has to be done".

For the sketch for this month I used pictures of Henk and Marloes playing a ice-hockey game last year and I had one left, so..... I found a printout of a layout I had seen somewhere in blogland, and used it as an idea for this layout!

I actually love how it turned out, different layers, all distressed, torn up and inked with Ranger Distress ink Peeled Paint, which gives it really a kind of "older" look.

I got to play with my hotfix, and finally used a lot of bling, at least, for me it's a lot! (the close-up of the rhinestones is kind of blurry......too bad!)

And I used some of my embroidery floss I have laying around for ages, to wrap around the photo and paper... and I think it looks great!

As I said in my last post, you are probably going to see more ATC's... and I couldn't help it, here is the next set! This is really fun to do, all I need now is to win the lottery and buy myself a lot of cute stamps!! (I glued Basic Grey Blitzen to cards, put some Gesso over it, stamped snowflakes, an old poststamp and the words with Ranger Distress ink Faded Jeans)

This photo was laying here, I guess just waiting for the right time and the right paper!

And I found it! Ordered it for something totally different but didn't have enough, and it was just not the perfect color.... so...... I finally used it!

The picture is from our trip to Holland last year, and as you can read in the journaling, the only way of transportation was the city bus....... My cousin made this picture during one of those bustrips.. Can you see the "happy faces?" (papers and "scary monsters" are from October Afternoon, Night Light)

Altered box, Award and a layout.

From a friend of mine, Jacqueline, I got the idea to alter a wooden box and put all my vintage goodies in there. So, I went to the Dollarama, bought a box, and started having fun.

The outside is painted kind of "old green" and I decorated it with an old line of scrapbooking paper I found. Used some stamps and flowers, and made my own thickers using foam and the sidekick!

The inside of the lid is decorated with paper too, and I glued some old fashioned looking ribbon along the sides and finished the corners off with buttons.

On the outside are some paper strips, stamped with a border stamp. (I used Tea Dye distress ink for all the stamping.)

And this is what's inside......all the vintage goodies I got from friends in the Netherlands! I'm so happy with it, and now I have to clean up my desk again to give it a nice spot!

It's award time again, I love those, and I especially love this one!!! Elly gave it to me, just because she thought I deserved it..... thanks so much girl, I really appreciate it!

Now I'm supposed to pass it on to 6 other people..... which is getting harder and harder, because I love each and every one I visit and who visits me. All your blogs are so inspriring and you all deserve an award like this, so..... consider yourself awarded by me and take it!

Some posts ago, after Christmas I showed a collage of all the Christmas pictures I made last year! I had it printed, and used it for a layout, cause I had so much, that it's almost impossible to use them all, besides in a mini-album and I didn't want that:-)
The layout is a lift from one I saw on the internet, but I have no clue who made it.


I used some rub-ons I got a long time ago, they are in silver, so kind of hard to see. Grungeboard stars, painted silver, and a piece of lace.

And this is the layout.. kind of "busy" with all the pictures in one, but..... I still like it very much! The papers used are Basic Grey Wassail, and "made-myself-thickers" again.

The vintage looking picture I found on the internet and printed it, looks kind of nice I think!

Vintage box!

In an earlier post I wrote about a project I was working on, but couldn't show you yet. Well...... I'm done, and so very, very happy with it!

I saw the workshop for making this Vintage box on Tiets club and the box itself is designed by Jeanet.

It all started with this...... the inside of the box. All made out of cardstock covered with design paper. The papers I used for this are about 4-5 years old I think, didn't even know I had them still.... It's K&Company's line Isabella and Ashford I think. Pretty vintage paper line and perfect for the box.

Out of paper these boxes are folded.......

And then it was time to cover the outside, that was made out of cardstock too, with some chipboard on the upper and bottom side to make it extra firm. This is how it started out at first, some really lovely paper, a cotton lace glued to it, some music paper, distressed with Ranger Tattered Rose, a vintage picture from the internet, and some ribbon along the sides.

A close-up of some flowers and the key embellishment, found that at the Dollarama!!

And this is the finished boxlid! I love it!!

The bling heart I did myself, just using some very small blingbling and tacky glue!

Also the inside of the boxlid had to be decorated, and this is how it turned out! Again a vintage picture from the internet, flowers by Prima, small had and playing cards by the Dollarama, as are the brads and bling on the flowers. The buttons and piece of paper I got from friends in Holland.

And...... I put all my small vintage stuff in the small boxes, the pearl string I bought this afternoon, found a store in Port Dover that sells some vintage stuff, so...... that's sold to me! I think I can just cut some of and use them, or decorate something with a piece of the string!

And the final view, closed up with ribbon.... the picture has kind of a glow to it, but that's because the sun was shining in my room!

Ok, that was my project, I had so much fun making this, that I'm actually kind of sad it's finished.....

Suprise mail and New Years Dive!

My first post of the year 2009 and I want to wish you all the best, good health, luck, joy and lots of creativity!

The last day of the year I got a very nice surprise in the mail!

This cutie Christmas card, made by Linda, I love it..... great idea to use a beercoaster for a card, gotto keep that in mind!

But..... there was lots and lots more in the envelope!! Look at that cute skull stamp, my gosh, I'm in love!! And all the vintage pictures... jute..... doilies.......

Music paper with old Dutch childrens' songs, and the pictures with poems on it.... Linda, I told you already, thanks so much, I love it all and I'm sure I will make some nice layouts with all this!

Today, the first day of the New Year, there are a lot of countries that have the tradition of the New Years Dive! We had it in Holland, but... here in Canada they do too, and not far from where we live, about a 10 min. drive, friends of ours live in Port Dover, which is situated at Lake Erie. Very good place for a dive...... but with temperatures at about -15 C. I can tell you, it's very very cold too!

Egbert, our friend, wanted to do this for years and years but just never got to it, until today! He had asked Henk to join him, but.... not that Henk chickened out,...... he just thought it was a little too cold for him, so he stayed on the safe side!


A lot of people from all around the area gathered at the lake, it was just great to see the enthousiasm of everybody, participating in the dive, or just watching and cheering!

And there he goes, off to his first dive in ice cold water!!!

And a lot more people joined him!! We wanted to get closer to the lake, but it was not doable for me, I was kind of scared, cause it was all ice you had to walk on, really very slippery, and I was just too afraid to fall. So, somewhere in this picture, Egbert is walking the last couple of meters to the water!



AND HE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!! Very cold, could hardly feel his legs, but.......oh so proud of himself, and.... so are we!
