Fairies

It's August, so a new challenge at Journal Journey.
This time it's all about Fairies!

I love fairies, and remembered this cute image which I got from a friend, so no clue who deserves credits for it, and I just had to use it!

Had a hard time with the background this time, first gesso, then my water soluble crayons, no, not good enough, so paint..... and more paint, with a baby whipe (love those things in combination with paint!)
Finally, when I was satisfied, I added some details, and my page was done!

Thanks for stopping by again!

AJC #52 and a wonderful gift!

Our final prompt in our 52 week art journal challenge is: ART, there is just so much you can do with this one! let loose ;)

I just can't believe this Art Journal Challenge is done..... 52 weeks of creating, being creative, thinking a lot, or sometimes done in 10 minutes!
This was something I've enjoyed every week of the past year, and I feel sorry it's done! Emily said she'd come up with a new challenge, can't wait to see what it is!

My last card for this challenge is simple, the way I did all my other 51 cards, with of course the flower, that's a part of almost every card I've made!

I used one of the latest Autumn Leaves stamps I've bought, "Stiched Journaling" found a quote on the internet, and printed it right between the lines!

The journaling on the back speaks for itself I think, but Emily, if you read this, thanks so much for this wonderful challenge!!

Also thanks to all the other girls who played along in this challenge, it was pure joy to look at all your creations every week, and that's what I'm going to do now!

And my completed tin, altered a Basic Grey tin and the cards are on binderrings!

***

Then something else, I knew it was coming, it only took a little longer then expected.... a wonderful Christmas gift from my sis Jeanet, which should have been here before Christmas, but I guess Canada Post didn't feel like working hard this season:-) But, it was all worth the wait, look what I got!!

A pizza box filled with yummy things, Dutch droppies, and pepermint, and it tastes soooo good!

This book, Scrapcards, in which are a lot of cards Jeanet designed! I love it, a real treasure this is, and sis, your work is wonderful!

One of the cards designed by Jeanet! Isn't it beautiful?

Great {Note} Worthy papers, love them!

KI Memories Pop Culture, gorgeous bright colors!

And 3 Scrapbookmagazines, a great Dutch magazine for which Jeanet designs too! with some embellishments by KI and Making Memories!

I love each and every single thing, but the book is very special for me, sis, you made me cry, but that's ok he, he....... you are very special to me too, and I love you for being so generous! Thanks so much, I will do my best to make some beautiful layouts and even more cards!

AJC #51

This weeks prompt is: Made me think of you.Is there something you see, or hear, or do, that makes you think straight away about somebody special?

Oh, yes there is, any musical I see or hear, makes me think of my mom, and this card represents one of them, that we both love!

It's a little later then usual, but hey, had Christmas stuff to prepare, going away for a day with friends, and most of all, eat Turkey yesterday with Hank's brother and wife! Boy, did we have a great day........ we had so much fun, that I didn't even take pictures.... must have been the wine ha, ha!!

Hope you all had a great Christmas too!! And only one more week to go...... it's just weird...... every Monday it was the first thing I did, check out the prompt for that week... I can't wait to see what Em comes up with for next year!

AJC #50 and stamps

This weeks challenge is: the greatest gift, what is the best gift you have ever received...or given...?

I knew it right away, the best gift I ever got..... Chanel no. 5!! The very first Christmas present Henk gave me, 22 years ago......

The printing went wrong, but I guess you can read it! (click on the image for a larger one!) Oh, and after that great gift.... I've never had it again:-))

Ok, have to make sure Anouk's getting dressed now, the kids have a snowday, cause we had a real snowstorm yesterday and apperently the roads aren't good enough to drive on for the schoolbusses! So I want to go outside, it's really nice, lots of snow, sun.....blue skies.. and flurries! I wanna have my first snow pictures! So maybe you wanna check out my next post, that has photos!

Oh, and I have to show you the stamps I bought last Friday, love love love them!!!! Specially that little birdie!!

AJC # 49

Emily's daughter has her birthday this week, and therefore this week's prompt is: TIME FLIES!!! Very appropriate for our Art Journal journey!

No birthdays for my daughters yet, although my DH has his b-day by the end of this year, but still, time flies, in many ways! Like this AJC journey, almost done, 3 more weeks..... unbelievable!
My card for this week is kind of simple, as I don't feel that good thanks to the flu shot I had last Friday! Never again!
I cut out the picture of the watches I found in O-magazine, painted the card cold and used my Dymo lables for the words.

As most of the weeks, my journaling is on the back of the card.

Have a great week!

Snow, AJC # 48 and AAE Hindsight!

Although it still officially Fall, we have snow here in Simcoe! It started Saturday night, there was about 5 cm. yesterday morning, later in the evening it started to poor, so everything melted, but now...... it's snowing since 7 am and it's very windy, so it is everywhere! I have to say, I like snow, but not this early really..... but hey, what can you do about it?

Right, not much, so, the best thing to spend the day is crafting, and that's what I did, I finished Emily's prompt for this week!! Can you believe it, only 3 more cards to go and the year is over!!

This weeks prompt is: ideas. Don't you love getting a good idea? Tell a story! Share how (or where) you get ideas, a bad idea you have had...anything to do with an idea!

No clue how this guy is called in English, but it's one of the characters in the Donald Duck comics! It hit me right away, so thanks Google!!

Hindsight may be a wonderful thing…I mean, how many times have you said to yourself, “if I’d only known then, what I know now…” Tell us what you’d have done differently; tell us why. Share those moments of hindsight with your fellow woman. Hell - we even want to know if you'd do it all again...! Lol!

All About Eve's challenge for this time, and because I was so busy running around last week, I just finished it this morning!

A more detailed photo of the journaling...... my hindsight!

TFL and have a great day!

AJC #47 and almost finished!

This week's prompt at Em's is: your happy place! Where can you go and be happy? Do you have a special spot somewhere, or will any comfy couch or tree or cafe do it for you? Think of 'your happy place' for this weeks card.

As the card says, I have several happy places, but they don't fit on this card! So I choose the "Duck Park" as it is called by all the people here in Simcoe,.... the reason....well, see for yourself! I spent about 2 hours there in October, such a beautiful Fall day, nice to sit on a bench, watch the ducks, people walking by...... just sit, relax, enjoy and be HAPPY!
The journaling is a bit blurry,..... cause of the embellishment, found it in a drawer and thought it would go nice on the card!
Thanks Emily, for another great prompt, I just can't believe the year is almost over, almost 52 cards.... and they look wonderful! I think it's nice to see everybody's tin/pouch/box or whatever in week 52 with all the cards in it!
*****
We had a nice and lazy weekend, everbody doing what he or she wanted to do.... So, why sit and hang on the couch, if you can scrapbook? Right, so I got busy, me, who hardly ever scrapbooks in the weekend, and yes, I finished 5!!! pages of my Memories album yesterday! I'm almost done, so for now you have to look at sneaks, but hopefully I can manage to finish it this week and show you the complete album!

TFL and have a great day/week!

AJC # 46

This week's prompt is: rejuvenation. What do you do, how do you do it etc!

Well, that was fun, had to look the word up first, I had no clue what it meant, but.... I'm done! For the first time I copied Emily's idea, and used a lot of words/phrases from the RAK I got from Deborah a couple of weeks ago.

Also some words (pink and purple papers) by De Luxe Designs, Label made, looks kind of neat! For this time, I left the back of the card as it is.......

Edited 20-11

Thanks for all the get well wishes, the helped, I feel better!!

AJC #45 and Christmas card and mail!!!

Yeaaaaah, after being sick for a couple of days, (and her poor girls too!!) Emily is back, so happy, cause I really missed the card last Monday!

This week's prompt is: self realisation. What have you come to discover about yourself lately? Or, think of a time in your life that you had a 'brick over the head' moment, and journal about that.

Ok, it might get a bit boring, but my "brick over the head" moment had to do with moving to Canada or not. I had so much to tell about that, that I decided to make a small envelope and fold the journaling in there. ( and that is NOT me on the picture!! Found it on the www!!)

As it's kind of personal, I kept most of it for myself, might be nice to read it in a couple of years and find out if I still feel the same way!

******
Another thing, I love to read blogs, and Nancy's blog, a Dutch girl like myself, I love to visit!! She's a very talented scrapper, and she makes wonderful cards too! Like now, she has a workshop on her blog for making a Christmas card. It's been a long time since I've made a Christmas card, but this on..... I loved it!
As you can see Nancy, I've changed some things (not the right material on hand!) but I like the way it turned out, and I'm gonna make some more too!!
******
Ok, last thing! The doorbel rang, and I know what that means, especially since I saw the mailman walking by..... he had something that didn't fit in my mailbox LOL. Look what I got!!!!!

A couple of weeks ago, Becca had a RAK on her blog and I was one of the lucky girls to receive a bag filled with embroidery floss!! She says she can't wait to see what I'll come up with... well, neither can I, ha ha, have to think about that first!

And the little jar you see, with the very very lovely card, I got from Liesbeth, and I'm so very happy with that jar! What's in it? Well, speculaaskruiden of course!! You American/Australian/English/Canadian girls won't know what it is, but it is the best herb to make real yummy cookies, muffins etc. It's typical Dutch, and I really wouldn't know where to get it here. Liesbeth sent me some recipies for the Dutch treats, which I liked very much, but... as I told her, couldn't make. So she was so nice to send me a jar with the herbs so we can have our Dutch treats! Thanks so much girl!!

TFL and have a great day!

AJC # 44

Emily's prompt for this week is: home There is lots you can do with this theme - past or previous home, dream home, how you make it home, why it is home, etc etc.
A very simple card for me this week, nothing special, just a photo of the mess when we just moved in our new house in Canada. After 4 weeks waiting, finally our furniture got delivered.... but home.........
Well..... no, not exactly.....
I still don't feel at home here..... in this house that is. I love Canada, much better than Holland, but home...... is where my heart is I guess......

AJC # 43 and grungeboard!

With two days to go before Halloween, what better prompt could Emily think of than SCARY?!
This photo was taken last year, of course LOL, very dark, but hey, that's what you get at 8 pm in October! As the back of the card says, it was our very first Halloween, and people down the street had decorated their house in a wonderful way....but also very SCARY.... When the kids went there, it scared the crap out of them, because the owner sat outside, but in such a good disguise, that he really looked like a stuffed scarecrow.... Can you imagine the screems of my girls when he stood up from his chair and said BOO!....... Well, I do!
The paper I bought last year, but never used it, same with the epoxy stickers on the front and the back, but they were very useful now!
*****
This video I saw on another blog, but forgot which one..... I totally love this stuff and hope it will be in stores here pretty soon, cause I would buy it without thinking!

That's it for today, have a great one!

AJC # 42 and Nature is great!

This week's prompt at Emily's site is: a grateful week summarise, pick one thing, record every day, photos, words, art. be more grateful this week for the little things!

Ok, a very plain and boring card, but that's how I feel today. I'm feeling very very tired and just didn't spent lots of time on this weeks prompt... As you can see, the rest of the week is still to come!
It's not possible anymore, but I have to add something to the card! I'm grateful for the things my mom sent us!!! Nice droppies, chocolate pepernoten (Dutch things, sooooo good!) and some nice t-shirts for Henk and me!! Thanks mom!!!!
***
Some Fall colors, had to take these pictures on Sunday while driving out and about.... and I want lots and lots more!

I think these leaves have the most gorgeous red color.......

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

And today, Monday, it's the best Fall weather again, kind of breezy but hey, that's ok. I think after lunch I'll go to the park, see if the ducks are still there, and maybe they want to be in my picture.... Maybe there are beautiful colors there too! So.....to be continued!

We continue........:-) This afternoon I went to the park........ the weather was absolutely gorgeous. I just sat down on a bench, and started making photos, ducks, gees.......wonderful trees..... I really enjoyed myself, and made some nice shots.... I think!

AJC #41

This week's prompt: magic carpet...if you had a magic carpet RIGHT NOW...where would you ask it to go?

Well, as most of you who do this awesome challenge know after 41 weeks (can you believe that, 41!!!!!!), I'm as Dutch as can be, and moved to Canada last year June, to keep my DH happy, cause he was homesick! (the things you do for your DH!)

So........ if I had that magic carpet right now... it had to fly quite far........ take me to Holland please!

This week the journaling is on the front, I found a map of Holland in WordClipart, washed it out, and printed it on plain copy paper, printed the journaling over the picture, used my Dymo and cried my heart out........(don't get me wrong, I love living in Canada,..... just miss every loved one very much......)

On the back of the card is a postcard I found with the 11 cities in Friesland, the province I lived in..... Cut it up and just clued it on the card.

Ok Emily, next week, please give us a prompt that doesn't make me homesick???!!!!

AJC # 40

This week's challenge is: not anymore, what is not anymore in your life, how are you not anymore, how is it not anymore?!!!
A little later then usual, but, since it is Thanksgiving here, I had to make the stuffing for the Turkey first, that thing is in the oven now...... Can you imagine, having Thanksgiving when it's almost 30 degrees outside?? Boy, is it hot in the kitchen:-) Anyway, while Henk was stuffing the Turkey, I sat down and did my card for this week, which I loved to do.... I found an old diary a while ago, (so cool to read all that sentimental teenage stuff!) in which I also put some photo's of those days. And this sure was a long, long time ago, I guess I was about 16/17 years young..... and I always had a perm, cause I hated my hair, flat, couldn't do anything with it.....

But not anymore.. ..... no more perm for me!!! I'm very sure that my hair will stay like it is now, short, very easy to handle, hasn't seen a brush in ages...... and those perm days are definately over and done with!!
I used my Dymo labeler, sanded the edges of the photo and the BG Blush, used rub-ons by Polar Bear, which I got from my "sister" and a black Glaze pen!

For those of you who live in Canada, Happy Thanksgiving to you all, enjoy the beautiful fall weather, and for everybody else all over the world, have a great day/afternoon/night!
