Yummieeeeee pepernoten!!!

Ok, this has absolutely nothing to do with scrapbooking, but it is so much fun and they taste so good......specially when you plan to scrapbook!! But I better not eat them all.... I guess the kids like them too!
Remember I'd received the special herbs, speculaaskruiden, last week, well, these are
the Dutch treats I made this morning, Pepernoten, a Dutch tradition this time of year, when Sinterklaas is visiting Holland! (you can see I use my baking sheet a lot he, he!)
On a plate to cool..... but I did taste 1........yes, only 1!!!!!!! And boy, they are really very good!!

Edited at 11.30 am..... I would love to give you all the recipe, but it's a bit hard, cause the herbs you need, speculaaskruiden, are hard to get in say.... Canada, USA, England, actually, anywhere in the world, except for Holland....... So if any Dutch readers would like the recipe, I'm happy to email it, but for all the other readers, it's gonna be hard!
LOL I keep on editing this post! I forgot I got a recipe from Liesbeth, to make your own speculaaskruiden, so here we go!

30 grams cinemon
10 grams ground gloves
10 grams nutmeg
5 grams white pepper
5 grams anis seeds
5 grams coriander seeds
So, if you want to try it..... see that you can find these ingredients and get started, here's the rest of the recipe!
125 grams flour
1 tsp baking powder
tsp treacle (no clue what that is!)
1/2 tbsp speculaaskruiden
25 grams butter
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp milk
Preheat the oven to 180 - 220 degrees C. Mix all ingredients in the mixing bowl. Wash your hands, and with wet hands mix everything well. Knead the mix until it becomes a dough that does not stick to your hands. Grease the baking sheet using the butter brush. Roll the dough into little balls, as big as marbles, and put these on the baking sheet. Put this in the middle of the oven and for about 20 min. Turn of the oven, let the gingernuts cool for 10 min. and then use the spatula to remove them from the baking sheet!
Ok, so if any of you tries this, please......let me know how you liked them!!

They look delicious! This is some traditional dish in your country, right? Can you give us the recipe? I'am curious how they taste like... :)

You can also give the spices recipe I emailed you, to make your own Speculaaskruiden.
Those spices will be available in Canada.
Nice to see you made them!

How great to keep the Sinterklaas tradition!! We always buy and make pepernoten en speculaaskoeken around this time. It makes the house smell like winter!

Geniet ervan.
